As a logical result to the structuring phase in Europe and South America, IBSA (International Blind Sport Association) managerial staff created Football Subcommittee that had to work on the organization of the first continental competitions. Therefore, FEDEC in Spain and ABDC in Brazil organized the European and South American Championships in 1997. Since then, in accordance with IBSA rule, the continental and world-wide Championships of Blind football have taken place alternately during even and uneven years after 1997.
Therefore, since Madrid in 1997, Porto, Saint-Mandé, Rome, Manchester, Malaga, Athens and Ankara were the main european cities that had welcomed official Blind football competitions.
For these 7th European Championships, French Disabled Sports Federation was entitled by international authorities to welcome the 11 nations that will compete in both categories.
The choice of the federation to entrust the Blind Football Commission and Don Bosco Batignolles with the organization of this event can be explained by the guarantee that it will certainly be a success. Indeed, Don Bosco Batignolles executives, with the help of their partners and the always very important involvement of many volunteers, have shown rigour when taking care of the organization of national events.
That is why, after Beijing Paralympics Games, that were characterized by a successful second participation of Blind football, we can rely on fervent European Championships and an organization equal to the event.
