In Blindsoccer B2B3 the spirit of competition and the sport performances are as high as in soccer and in “indoor soccer” its most well known ancestor. The rules also are very similar to those of “indoor soccer”, which are just adapted to fit the specificities of the visually severely impaired players.
Players often experience different visual impairments and therefore the perception of the game field or of the ball may vary significantly among them. Each player needs to use all its abilities to capture all relevant information, well position himself in the field and play according to the rules of the game (faults are cumulative and players can be excluded).
Each team is composed of four visually impaired field players and a sighted goal keeper. The ball is of a color that well contrasts with the color of the floor, so it can be more easily “seen”/perceived by the players.
As for “indoor soccer”, Blindsoccer B2B3 is played on a covered parquet floor, a 40 by 2O meter field, with 3 by 2 meter goals. The playing time is divided in two 25 minutes periods of effective game.
